Custom-branded hotel amenity kits need a 2,000-piece minimum per item, sachet printing carries a one-time dye charge of ₹1,500 per colour, and custom production takes 30–45 days — simple printed boxes can be ready in about 4 days. Every one of those numbers has a reason behind it, and knowing the reason is what lets you plan an order instead of guessing.
The 2,000-piece minimum, explained
Printing is what sets the floor, not packing. Once artwork is approved, a print run has fixed setup costs — plate-making, machine setup, colour calibration — that barely change whether you print 500 pieces or 5,000. Spreading that fixed cost over too few pieces makes the per-unit price uneconomical for both sides, which is why 2,000 pieces per item is where custom branding starts to make sense. It applies uniformly, whether the format is a sachet, a printed box, or one of our eight design templates — the template is a design choice, not a separate product, so the same minimum applies whichever one you pick.
The one-time sachet dye charge
Sachet printing carries an additional one-time charge of ₹1,500 per colour used in the artwork — a single-colour logo is one charge, a two-colour design is two. This is not a per-piece cost; it is a one-time setup fee for that colour on that print run. Spread across a 2,000-piece order it works out to under a rupee per kit, which is why branded sachets remain worthwhile even for a 20-room property reordering once a quarter. Printed boxes do not carry this charge — lamination (matte or gloss) is priced separately and is optional.
Production lead times
Typical custom production — from approved artwork to dispatch — runs 30–45 days. Simple printed boxes are the exception: they can be ready in about 4 days once artwork is signed off, because they skip the sachet flow-wrap tooling step. If you are opening a property on a fixed date, work backwards from that date and build in the full 30–45 day window for anything beyond a simple box, plus time for your own artwork approval.
What has no minimum at all
Unbranded stock carries no minimum order quantity. If your branding decision is not locked yet, or you are stocking a small property that will not clear 2,000 pieces of one item within its shelf life, unbranded kits let you open or restock now and move to custom branding once volumes justify it.
Planning an order around these numbers
Three practical rules follow directly from the above: confirm your artwork and colour count before you commit to a print date, since colours drive the dye charge and revisions cost time you may not have; order printed boxes if your timeline is tight, since they are the only format that can turn around in days rather than weeks; and size your first branded order close to 2,000 pieces per item rather than well above it, since unused branded stock has no benefit over reordering once you have real consumption data.
